Privacy Policy
Pie Menu is made by Knauken AS. Your menus and preferences are stored on your Mac. Publishing a community menu or theme is optional and makes the submitted content public.
Local app data
Pie Menu stores your settings, menus, themes, and custom icons locally. They are not automatically published to the community. Exporting settings creates a file you choose where to save or share.
Community sharing
When you choose to share, we receive the menu or theme, its name, any description and public author name you provide, a preview image, and any custom icons you choose to include. Menu payloads can contain shortcut definitions, scripts, and URLs. Review them before publishing and leave out private information.
Published submissions can be viewed and downloaded by anyone and may appear in search engines and link previews. We store submission records and files using Vercel’s hosting, database, and file-storage services. Download counts are also stored.
The app uses a random submitter token and credentials for editing and removing your submissions. These are stored in your Mac’s Keychain; credentials configured for iCloud Keychain may sync through Apple when available. We store the records needed to verify editing and removal requests.
When you share shortcuts for an app not in our catalog, Pie Menu may also upload its application icon, name, and bundle identifier so we can keep an app asset inventory for future listings. Application icons are stored with Vercel and may be accessible by their file URLs. These assets are retained separately from individual menu submissions; contact us if you need one removed.
Service requests and abuse prevention
Our services process request information, including IP addresses, to deliver pages and files and limit abusive requests. Community rate-limit records use IP addresses or submitter tokens and are configured to expire after one minute or one hour, depending on the endpoint. Hosting providers may separately process operational and security logs.
When moderation notifications are enabled, submission names, public author names, links, and preview images are sent to our moderation channel on Discord. We use these notifications and reports to review submissions.
Removing shared content
Use Unshare in the app to remove a submission’s public listing. The service also attempts to delete its uploaded files. Internal records marking the submission as removed and moderation records may remain. Copies already downloaded, cached, or indexed by others are outside our control. Contact us to request help with removal or other data associated with a submission.
Website analytics and external services
The website uses Simple Analytics to understand visits and interactions such as outbound links and downloads. Embedded YouTube videos and links to the App Store, Setapp, and other websites involve those providers and their own privacy policies.
Purchases and Setapp
Apple handles App Store payments and provides purchase entitlements to the app. Setapp handles access for its edition; that edition reports user-interaction events through the Setapp framework. We do not receive your payment-card details through the app.
Crash reports and support
If you opt in to sharing diagnostic reports through Apple, we may receive crash diagnostics such as app and operating-system versions and device information. If you email support or report a submission, we receive the contact information and details you send so we can respond.
Contact and updates
For privacy questions or requests, email contact@pie-menu.com. We will publish changes to this policy here.
